Lee was injured when he was checked into the boards from behind Rostislav Olesz of the Panthers.

Olesz was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play.

The Vancouver Canucks traded Czech defenseman Lukas Krajicek and minor-league Slovak forward Juraj Simek to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Canadians Shane O’Brien and Michel Ouellet.

Ouellet, a winger with 54 goals in 187 NHL games with Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay, was already in the AHL with Norfolk after clearing waivers last week. Ouellet, with a salary of $1.3 million (?950,000) this season, will be sent to Vancouver’s farm team in Manitoba.

Maple Leafs left wing Ryan Hollweg received an automatic two-game suspension Monday after collecting his third boarding or checking from behind major in a 41-game span.

The third penalty came in last Wednesday’s 7-3 preseason loss at St. Louis, when Hollweg was assessed a boarding major and game misconduct.

Last season with the New York Rangers, Hollweg received checking from behind majors and game misconducts on Jan. 5 against Edmonton and Feb. 3 against Montreal.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Scott Walker is expected to be sidelined for six weeks after surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left hand.

The surgery comes four days before the Hurricanes open the regular season Friday night against Florida.
