The Philadelphia Flyers signed veteran goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin to a one-year contract Thursday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 31-year-old Aubin was 5-6-1 with a 3.19 goals-against average in 19 regular-season games last season with the Los Angeles Kings. In 218 career NHL games over nine seasons with Pittsburgh, Toronto and Los Angeles, Aubin is 80-83-16 with a 2.93 goals-against average and seven shutouts.

Flames assistant coach Wayne Fleming resigned on Thursday to become the head coach of Omsk in Russia’s new Continental Hockey League.

“We have great respect for the work Wayne did with us and appreciate his contributions,” Calgary general manager Darryl Sutter said in a statement. “We understand that the opportunity to be the head coach of a significant team such as this represents the very best opportunity for him and his career at this time.

All-Star center Vincent Lecavalier was named captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.

The club’s career scoring leader, who will enter his 10th NHL season, signed an 11-year, $85 million contract extension in July.

“I don’t think you need a letter on your sweater to be a leader, but it’s definitely a great honor to be captain,” Lecavalier said.

The three-time All-Star helped the Lightning when the Stanley Cup four years ago.

Russia’s Continental Hockey League has agreed to binding arbitration with the NHL over the contract status of forward Alexander Radulov, who has a year left on his deal with the Nashville Predators but signed a three-year to play in the new league.

When and where that arbitration occurs remains to be decided, and that may not be easy to work out.

Forward Jason Pominville signed a five-year contract extension with the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, a day before the team opens training camp.

Pominville, entering the final year of his contract, finished second on the team with a career-best 80 points (27 goals, 53 assists) last season and was identified as one of two core players the Sabres wanted to secure with long-term deals this offseason. The other was goaltender Ryan Miller, who signed a five-year, $31.25 million extension in July.

St. Louis Blues defenseman Erik Johnson will miss the first three days of training camp because of a knee injury.

Team president John Davidson said Thursday that Johnson hurt his right knee in a non-hockey related incident.

Johnson will be re-evaluated over the weekend and his status will be updated before Tuesday’s preseason game with the Dallas Stars.

Johnson was the Blues’ first overall pick in 2006.
